小時(shí)候有一段時(shí)間住在農(nóng)村，夏天天熱的時(shí)候，晚上全村的人都搬出涼床在村口的空地上乘涼。記得那時(shí)每天晚上仰望清亮無比的星空，聽大人們講銀河的故事，看見一顆流星劃過天際就齊聲發(fā)出驚呼。如今，這段動(dòng)人心弦的時(shí)光過去了，永遠(yuǎn)地進(jìn)入到我個(gè)人的歷史長(zhǎng)河中了。我現(xiàn)居廣州，一個(gè)飛車黨曾經(jīng)十分流行的城市，一個(gè)很少看見藍(lán)天白云的城市。我讀的南方都市報(bào)，每天都少不了燒殺搶掠，每天都少不了坑蒙拐騙。我住在20層高樓已經(jīng)5年，左鄰右舍姓甚名誰，一概不知。樓上樓下都在干什么，全不知曉。我每天去辦公室，教課，然后回到自己感覺最安全的蝸居，打開網(wǎng)絡(luò)，在網(wǎng)上恣意縱橫，國(guó)事家事天下事，事事關(guān)心。

到底從什么時(shí)候起，我開始不再與鄰里交往？到底從什么時(shí)候起，我開始不再愿意加入一個(gè)群體？9月24日的雅思大作文給了一個(gè)機(jī)會(huì)讓我思考。原因當(dāng)然是多方面多層次的，在短短的250字內(nèi)不可能談完談深。我在想，也許是我受到了媒體的影響，認(rèn)為鄰居可能不是好人，可能會(huì)搶我，甚至害我；也許是家里的網(wǎng)絡(luò)給了我太多歸屬感，讓我沉醉在虛擬世界里。我知道，遠(yuǎn)離鄰里，遠(yuǎn)離社區(qū)，害怕甚至拒絕與真人打交道，這是常見的一種現(xiàn)代人疾病。我決定，從今天寫完這篇作文開始，每天抽出1-2小時(shí)，不帶手機(jī)，不帶ipad，也不帶電腦，去與鄰居交流，去加入社區(qū)活動(dòng)；我決定，不再讀，不再信，也不再傳那些雞鳴狗盜的媒體新聞，敞開心扉，將心比心，去交幾個(gè)真正的朋友！

Now we have numerous newspaper reports about a child being robbed without anybody offering to help him or a ninety-year-old poor woman dead at home for days without anybody knowing it. All these reports point to one key problem that face dwellers in cities, especially big cities: they seldom interact with their neighbors, much less to say they care about their neighbors and they feel lonely because they do not feel they belong to any community.

When asked why they do not socialize with their neighbors, many people would respond by saying “Why should I? This is a dangerous city!” Indeed, modern media such as TV, newspaper and Internet have had way too much coverage about the city’s crimes like theft, robbery and murder. People constantly exposed to such reports of the dark side of the city life may harbor the idea that nobody is trustworthy, including their neighbors.

(2) respond by saying 的簡(jiǎn)單說法就是answer。
(3) way too much （表示否定）太多，過多，比如：She has spent way too much money on her dresses./她花了過多的錢在她的裙子上。
(4) People constantly exposed to such reports...may... 長(zhǎng)期閱讀這類報(bào)道的人們會(huì)......。簡(jiǎn)單的表達(dá)就是：If people often read such reports, they may... 不過，這個(gè)改動(dòng)就把得分降至6分了。
(5) ...harbor the idea that... 有......的想法。harbor的簡(jiǎn)單用詞是have。

On the other hand, people now do not feel any more the necessity to communicate with their neighbors or become part of a community. Anyway, they do not need their neighbors like they did before. They work, earn enough money and go back home to relax themselves. When they want to talk, they can just pick up their cellphone and talk to anybody in the world; when they have some brilliant ideas they want to share, they can get online with a few simple clicks and then post their ideas there.

But we all know that confinement to oneself is no good, no matter how many friends or fans you may have online. As part of the solution to the problem, I would suggest everybody have an “Internet-free moment”. Simply put, we can set aside an hour every day, in which we try to reach out for our neighbors without a cellphone or laptop with us. Once we begin to care about real people around us, we will suddenly find ourselves living in a community that also cares about us. This experience is much more rewarding than having thousands of virtual friends who do not really know us. At the same time, all media should be fully aware of their share of responsibility in this problem, and try to bring more positive stories about the city life.
