Some people want the government to spend more money looking for life on other planets, while others think it is a waste of public money and there are many problems on the earth. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

又見外星人題目！記得2016年10月13日，雅思作文問的是人類是否應(yīng)該與外星人進(jìn)行交流，當(dāng)然有的人認(rèn)為應(yīng)該，有的人認(rèn)為不應(yīng)該，因為讓外星人知道地球的存在后，我們會遇到很多危險。忘了的盆友點這里：

這次稍微轉(zhuǎn)換一下角度，問我們是否應(yīng)該花錢去尋找外星球上的生命？

觀點自然還是有人認(rèn)為應(yīng)該，也有人認(rèn)為不應(yīng)該，因為地球上還有很多問題需要花錢去解決。

對比一下，兩道題其實都是要求雙邊討論：首先要討論應(yīng)該交流/花錢尋找，然后討論不應(yīng)該交流/花錢，最后給出自己的觀點。不難看出，這兩個題目部分的討論其實差不多，無非是找到外星生命后，我們可以向他們學(xué)習(xí)，我們不再孤獨(dú)，地球毀滅時可以有人幫助我們，等等，但第二部分略有不同：2016年10月13日重點要我們討論與外星人聯(lián)系后可能帶來的危險，而本題的討論重點則是地球本身現(xiàn)在還有很多現(xiàn)實問題需要花錢去解決，比如貧困，教育，醫(yī)療，這些都很好想出來，也很好寫。

總體看來，這次考試的題目比較容易寫，審題沒有難度，觀點很明確，也很容易細(xì)化。

Our imagination about beings on other planets has never stopped and reached its climax in such movie series like “Star Wars” and “Star Trek” in 1960s and 1970s. If other life forms do exist, as many people believe, is it worthwhile for the government to spend money looking for them? 

 

我們從未停止過關(guān)于外星生命的想象，在20世紀(jì)60、70年代的《星球大戰(zhàn)》系列電影中達(dá)到高潮。如果如很多人所相信的那樣，其他生命形式的確存在，那么，政府花錢去尋找它們是否值得呢？

When it comes to the necessity of exploring outer space, some people argue that the government should spend money looking for creatures on other planets, but others believe that government budgets should focus on issues on the Earth.

這個開頭段就屬于中規(guī)中矩，提出話題，而不是在描寫話題，顯得比較生硬，沒有語言靈活度。這樣的開頭段適合雅思初段模仿（6分以下），希望得高分的烤鴨，應(yīng)該主動避免這類模板開頭法，適應(yīng)唐老師提出的個性開頭法。這就是很多烤鴨考完后感覺不錯，結(jié)果分?jǐn)?shù)不理想的原因：用了太多模板，看起來可以，但沒有打動考官，自然沒有高分。志在高分的烤鴨，必須引以為戒！

There are many people who are very enthusiastic about those life forms on other planets. They are interested in how these different beings survive and believe their more advanced technology may well help us human beings solve their existing problems. Besides, as many scientists have speculated, the Earth will eventually die and disappear into the black hole. We therefore need to find our siblings on other planets so that when that day does arrive, our future grand, grand children will not perish from the Earth. 

 

很多人對外星生命形式非常感興趣。他們想知道這些不同的生命如何生存，并相信它們更為發(fā)達(dá)的科技也許能幫助人類解決現(xiàn)存的問題。此外，正如很多科學(xué)家猜測的那樣，地球有朝一日終會死亡，并消失在黑洞之中。因此，我們有必要找到其他星球上的兄弟姊妹，這樣，當(dāng)那一天來臨時，我們未來的子子孫孫就不會從地球消亡了。

Those with more realistic bend of mind, however, do not support the idea of spending money on life forms on other planets. They are generally more doubtful about the existence of other beings in the outer space, so they believe it is just a huge waste of money to try to look for them, especially when there still are so many practical problems on this planet crying for solution. The money squandered on the exploration of aliens, they argue, should go to helping children who are unable to pay for their college education and those who are ill but cannot enjoy decent medical services.

 

然而，那些頭腦更現(xiàn)實的人不支持把錢花在外星球生命形式上面。這些人普遍更懷疑外空是否存在其他生命，因此他們認(rèn)為去找這些生命純粹是在浪費(fèi)金錢，尤其是當(dāng)這個星球尚有很多現(xiàn)實問題急需解決的時候。在他們看來，浪費(fèi)在探索外星人的錢應(yīng)該用來幫助那些沒錢讀大學(xué)的孩子，以及那些生病了卻無法享有良好醫(yī)療服務(wù)的人。

Personally, I do think that there should be a balance between the money spent on the immediate issues and the future ones. Undoubtedly, such pressing problems as housing, education, and medicare ought to be taken care of by the government, but it is also the responsibility of the government to prepare for the future of the Earth. Seen in this light, a reasonable investment on the life on other planets is perfectly justifiable.

 

我個人認(rèn)為，花在眼下問題的錢和花在未來問題的錢應(yīng)該有一個平衡。毫無疑問，諸如住房、教育和醫(yī)療這樣的緊迫問題需要政府去解決，但是政府也有責(zé)任為地球的未來做準(zhǔn)備。這樣看來，合理投入尋找其他星球上的生命完全是有道理的。
