2、與他人相處的好 the ability to get along well with others
3、清晰溝通 the ability to communicate clearly
Whether a leader is filling a sales role, a creative position or a customer service vacancy, solid written and verbal communication skills should be considered as the cornerstone of all other attributes like honesty or the ability to bond with others. The logic behind it is simple, candidates of honesty and sociability are indeed assets to the team, they may however cause unexpected troubles. Skilled communicators, on the contrary, bring tremendous benefits.
● Asset
● Communicator
Low trust stifles productivity, as the leader may hence have to handle all the details personally. In this sense, an honest candidate who neither stray from the truth nor conceal information should be recruited. However, the leader should be aware that such person may be complete truthful, which is certainly counterproductive. In fact, in case where the group is negotiating a deal, some things like the groups’ financial straits or bottom price are better to be kept secret than to be revealed. Expecting a genuine and unsophisticated staff to withhold such secrets is hardly possible, and if they confide them, the group may be put in an unfavorable condition.
● Stifle
● Conceal = withhold
● Genuine
Candidates who are adept at establishing close rapport with co-workers may outperform candidates of integrity, but such ability can backfire as well. Not to demonize gregarious staffs, they may not intentionally evade tasks but keep gossiping about irrelevant miscellaneous topics when on duty. The worst case is that if such candidates voice their gripes constantly, negative feelings may be soon passed on to other members, undercutting their morale.
● Outperform vt.
● Gripe
● Undercut morale
It thus follows that leaders should enroll candidates who can communicate in a lucid manner and well, whether when speaking or writing. By briefing the leader on work plans in a straightforward way, a clearer and more streamlined workflow can be expected; by drafting a plan in a comprehensible manner before meetings, goal-oriented discussions, instead of aimless and meaningless one, can be facilitated; by articulating the features of products, potential customers can be convinced; by listening to workmate’s complaints in an empathetic approach, conflicts and clashes can be mitigated. All of the aforementioned gains can benefit the team, and therefore applicants of sound communication skills should be prioritized.
● Articulate vt.
● Empathetic
At this point, it is fair to have faith in job seekers who can communicate clearly.
