范文及解析
Introduction
Going forward in such fast-changing times, some people may argue that history can no long bring us tangible benefits, while I am a strong believer in the indispensable role history plays in helping us better understand the present.
解析
歷史相關的考題整體比較抽象,論證過程中可以適當增加具象例子來證明;審題時注意題目中前者觀點包含化的詞nothing,因此自己的觀點建議選擇后者;同時要注意后者觀點中帶有限定信息help to better understand the present;
tangible adj.切實的;實際的;
Body 1
Those who harbour the view that history has nothing or little to tell us believe the past and the present are not correlated. As is argued by them, the whole world, ushered by cutting-edge technologies, have been undertaking breathtaking changes, which means hardly can brief historical summaries play midwife to contemporary researches. For instance, a breakthrough in nuclear fusion to set us on a path to an energy system purged of fossil fuel relies heavily on technological progress, instead of historic experience and reference.Also, old traditions, incongruous in our democratic age, should be abandoned. Convincing examples are traditional deep-rooted preference for boys over girls and institutional racism, which stand for nothing and serve no purpose for the prosperity and harmony of the modern age.
解析
一些人認為學習歷史沒有用:
(1)世界在不斷變化,很多現(xiàn)代社會待突破的問題更大程度上依賴于高科技還不是過去的歷史;
(2)很多過去的老舊傳統(tǒng)觀念跟不上時代的節(jié)奏和發(fā)展也是需要摒棄的,對現(xiàn)代社會的和諧穩(wěn)定毫無意義;
usher v.引領;
breathtaking adj.令人驚嘆的;令人震驚的;
play midwife to v.有助于;促進;
purge v.清除;排除;
incongruous adj.不和諧的;不一致的;
institutional adj.根深蒂固的;
Body 2
From my perspective, however, in no sense should we brush aside boons of history. Taking history as a mirror can be of paramount importance to understand the present and look into the future by shying away from making the same blunder. For example, history shows us that the world stood poised between peace and war while nations benefit from engagement that is grounded in mutual interest and mutual respect rather than wars and conflicts. Drawing on the experience of the past, people in modern age, accordingly, cherish peace and commit to the peaceful and harmonious living environment. By learning history, people can also be fully informed about the evolution as well as the traditional culture of the country, with which young generations are more likely to develop a sense of belonging and enhance their sense of identity, going forward on a path to disseminate and carry forward their own culture.
解析
個人認為:
(1)以史為鑒可以避免重蹈覆轍;
(2)學習歷史能夠讓現(xiàn)代的人們了解一個國家的發(fā)展與傳統(tǒng)文化從而人們才有可能會有民族自豪,才會去弘揚自己國家的文化;
brush aside v.漠視;不顧;
boon n.優(yōu)勢;有用的東西;
take history as a mirror v.以史為鑒;
paramount adj.至為重要的;至高無上的;
shy away from v.回避;躲避;
blunder n.愚蠢的錯誤;疏忽;
poised adj.處于中間的;平衡的;
disseminate v.散布;傳播;
Conclusion
In a nutshell, never should we advocate turning a blind eye to the significance of leaning history not only in understanding the present but in future exploration.
