First, the total worth of fish imported to the US was at a higher level in 2007, when it was 10.4 billion US dollars, than in 2002 (8.5 billion) and 1997 (7.4 billion). Behind consumers’ preference for products of big names are two major factors. This preference, contrary to what many people may think it is, is advantageous.

 

The first reason is that [經濟狀況的提升是一個“無聊”的理由，不夠實際] people’s choice is made upon the common conception that those labels represent good quality. [然后細化labels和good quality，可以簡單舉例] For example, apparels of a famous brand are believed to have good designs, and home appliances and electronics are deemed reliable and durable. Meanwhile, since almost every renowned brand is not inexpensive, they display the owners’ economic status. Financially capable individuals may choose such brands to manifest how superior they are.

They optimize the designs and manufacturing.
